Kenseth`s Career Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series Stats:
From the Cockpit:
Matt Kenseth: «Auto Club Speedway is some of the oldest pavement that we have and it`s truly switched a lot through the years. It used to be about getting around the bottom there indeed well and not so much about momentum. You desired your car to turn indeed well along the bottom and to kind of get up off of the corners. As the years have gone by, it`s gotten broader and broader, so I`d say that the fattest challenge of Fontana is being versatile enough to run all over the race track, and the seams are also always a indeed challenging aspect of racing there. Even however the track is so broad, you have to be indeed precise racing there because the seams are kind of like big ditches that can slow down your lap times. I`ve always truly liked Fontana because it`s such a big and wide-sweeping track that I feel has always put on some of the better races we`ve had in my opinion. It`s just a joy track to race, and you`ll see some people that can truly make the top work, and other cars that make the middle and the bottom work. Practice can be rough at Fontana since the track can switch so much across those sessions over the course of the weekend. You just need to be able to find a good compromise for being on good tires and being able to maneuver around to whatever groove you want in order to make the passes.»
From the Pit Box:
Jason Ratcliff: «Fontana isn`t like any of the other tracks that we visit honestly. We only race there once a year, and it`s just a very unique track. It`s an early race on the schedule and a lot of things happen then as we go into the season, so it`s unique from the standpoint of when you get an aero package switch. This will be the very first indeed big track that we`ll go to for us to see how this fresh aero package comes into play. I truly love racing at Fontana. We`ve put a lot of prep into getting ready for this weekend and I feel that it`s a race that we typically run well at and can win. There`s uncertainty however from the aero standpoint and the fact that it`s not like Atlanta, or Vegas, or anything that we`ve run at so far this season. It`ll be the very first of its kind that we`ve seen this season.»
