two children die in Fremont County car wreck

Two youthful ladies were killed in a car crash Tuesday morning on Highway seven hundred eighty nine inbetween Hudson and Lander.

Olivia and Emma Lewis died of injuries sustained in the accident Tuesday afternoon. Olivia Lewis was 6. Emma Lewis was Trio.

The crash occurred shortly after seven a.m., when the driver of an SUV lost control of her vehicle and spun into the oncoming lane. A truck traveling the opposite direction broadsided the SUV, said Sgt. Stephen Townsend, a Wyoming Highway Patrol spokesman.

The Lewis ladies were railing in the SUV. The pair were flown from Riverton to a hospital in Salt Lake City.

The chicks’ deaths were announced by Wyoming Catholic College, where their father Sean Lewis is a professor.

“We are deeply, deeply saddened by this tragedy,” said WCC President Kevin Roberts in a ready statement. “Our hearts are cracking for Sean, for his wifey, Becca, for Olivia and Emma’s sister, Vivian, and for the many, many friends and family who have been touched by these youthfull lives.”

Their mother, who was driving, was unhurt in the accident, Townsend said. Three people traveling in the truck were sent to the hospital, where they were treated and released.

The accident occurred as a winter storm moved across central Wyoming Tuesday morning, producing slimy driving conditions and closing roads across the state.

People need to slow down, drive cautiously, and most of all recall being in a SUV or 4WD does not make one Ten’ tall and bullet proof. That said I wish the injured a speedy recovery.

I hope the children were in car seats.

A horrible tragedy for this family.

The family should be receiving prayers, not questions about seatbelts and/or car seats. Their lives were turned upside down in an instant by the loss of those two beautiful youthfull damsels. Nobody should ever have to live through losing a child, let alone two youthfull children. If the very first thought you have after reading this story is about seatbelts and/or car seats then your heart is not in the right place.

You are absolutely correct, this story was updated without notice from the CST.

My comments were made shortly after the incident hoping the children would have a better chance of survival if they were in car seats.

Condolences and prayers to the families involved.

My thoughts are what could have prevented this tragic death of two virginal children. I grieve for their family. That does not stop me from hoping that it was just a tragedy, and not preventable.

My prayers to this family.

There is alot to say about the crash. it is terrible right now. I know there grandmother. I babysat the three damsels. I help raised them. There grandmother is the strongest woman I have ever met. There grandmother is the woman that switched my life. I owe everything to that woman and to lose two grandchildren at the age of three and five is a terrible thing. I can only prayer for there sister and that she’ll will never be able to play with her sisters again:( . I love and miss you baby chicks!

Can’t even imagine what they are going through. Certainly not the time for commentary on how they were driving, no one is worth this. Thoughts and prayers for them.
