ID’s released of brothers killed after car flipped, landed in pond
Two people were killed in a crash Friday after their car flipped over and landed in a pond on Glenn Avenue south of Lancaster Avenue in the Daylesford section of Tredyffrin. Two brothers from Berwyn were killed last Friday, according to Tredyffrin police, after their car flipped over and landed in a pond on Glenn Ave. south of Lancaster Ave. in the Daylesford section of Tredyffrin.
The individuals killed in the single vehicle automobile accident at Four:36 p.m. Friday, October Two, two thousand fifteen were Thomas L. McAleer, 52, and Michael McAleer, 54. Information received was that the two subjects were en route home at the time of the accident.
Further investigation at the scene of the accident found that the vehicle, operated by Thomas McAleer, had been traveling Northbound on Glenn Avenue, lost control striking a curb, a sign and a stone wall before spinning inverted into a petite assets of water on the eastern side of the roadway. Both the road conditions brought on by a latest rain event as well as speed are noted as contributing factors to the accident. The mechanics of the accident along with an evaluation of electronics from the vehicle are still on going and are not yet finish.
Information received from the Chester County Coroners office lists the cause of death for both victims as “Fresh Water Drowning”. The manner of death for both victims is listed as “Accidental”. Any specific information regarding the report is directed to the Chester County Coroner’s Office.
According to witnesses the two thousand Mercury Sable was northbound on Glenn Ave. when it left the roadway, flipped on its roof and landed in a pond. The witness reported that they did not see anyone get out of the car following the crash.
Tredyffrin police, Paoli and Berwyn Fire Companies responded to the single car accident. Paoli Fire Chief Ira Dutter said when crews arrived the Mercury sedan was upside down in the pond. A Tredyffrin police officer and two firefighters went into the water and liquidated the victims from the car. He said Paoli and Berwyn ambulance crews performed CPR and transported the victims to Paoli Hospital.
Area resident, Margot Emlen, said traffic often races up the street as it is a popular cut through to the Upper Main Line YMCA.
